Dressed down

After the whole Diwali season of wearing heavy clothes and ogles of makeup I got so tired that yesterday I totally decided to dress down. I just picked up a random black top from my wardrobe to pair with my basic blue denims but we all know bloggers like us can't dress without a tadka.

Here is my dress for last night street side dinner where I have come in a dusky avatar and absolutely no make up apart from a kajal underline for my eyes. To top it I had made a messy hair puff to complement my look.

I got this messy hair look by tying my hair into a bun for a few hours and just made the puff with my hands. PS for this look avoid using a comb.

The Diwali season also marks the commencement of the wedding season in India. Many people wait to get married at this time of the year as it is said in our holy scriptures also that these months have the most auspicious days to tie the knot.

Many of my friends are in the process of finding partners this year, some by getting it arranged and others by undying love. People are getting engaged, hooked and married in every corner of this country.

Recently I was invited to a cousin’s engagement ceremony and since it was an inter-caste relationship we knew nothing about their customs and traditions. Nevertheless we had a lot of fun by discussions and leg pulling!

Godrej Aer - My savior

 I told you in the last article that I bought two fragrances to try for myself and how sure I wanted to be before sending it out to anyone. I tried the rose fragrance for my home and the musk car fragrance for my car.

I put in the car before going for work as I thought it would keep my Monday morning blues at bay but there was something else that happened. I used the Musk fragrance for my car and I am so happy because incidentally I dropped soya milk in my car that very day itself. I dreaded the series of consequences that I would have to face now, since I stay alone I would have to take the pain of taking the car to the garage and get it cleaned and mainly get the filthy smell out! I somehow managed to get it cleaned and I had kept my tissues ready to cover my nose before getting into the car.

As I entered the car in the evening dreaded and prepared to my surprise I did not find any foul smell, in fact the car smelled of the musk perfume that I had put. I absolutely have no words for how grateful I was to this www.godrejaer.com who made such a product which could surpass the smell of spilled milk.

It was that very day that I had planned to go for dinner with my girlies but after the milk accident, I cancelled my plans. I was sure that I would have to go to the garage. Love in Style

He is in the U S and I am here in India. I have not seen him in two years. We both love each other a lot but all our conversations in the last few years have been restricted to phone and skype. I don't know how things will be when he comes back.

We have been childhood sweethearts but life has changed now. I am not too sure on what I want from my life and so is he. He is a stern businessman and me a free lance writer and teacher.  Our social groups have become different and also our financial status.

In the middle this dilemma I got the news that he is coming to India for good. This morning he sent me a mail that he wants to meet me. Needless to say our families want us to tie the knot soon. But I am scared, for what is going to happen next, if he started liking someone there or anything else.

The D day has come and I have to meet him today. I don't know how to dress, should I be wearing a suit or a long dress or what!

I manage to pull out a new yellow netted top that I bought from hill road. A black jeans to make it look subtle and red pumps. I put on little make up with a bright red lip color. Though it looked sober for a date but I was not sure what kind of a date it was.

We went to this pool side restaurant and sat quietly. There was an uncomfortable silence that had crept in. The nervousness had killed my appetite. He started the conversation and we spoke about random mundane things to make it easy. Soon after our food came which was Vegetable Sizzler which is usually my favorite and after that sizzling brownie with vanilla ice cream. I was surprised that he remembered so much and very happy inside.

We spoke for a while and he dropped me home. As I was opening the door of the car, he just pulled out a rose from nowhere. He gave it to me and said 'You are my life, I love you'. He kissed me on my cheek and I must have turned tomato red. He then showed me the platinum ring that he had bought for me. He told me that he was looking forward to meeting and was equally anxious. He also said he was sure I would love this gesture and how much he missed me back there.

Platinum is best suited for our love because our love for each other has stood strong. Despite the distance we have still been there for each other and the distance has only got our hearts fonder. Our love is like the Platinum rare and eternal. When it is with us it just beautifies us and we are proud to be in this relationship like it is with Platinum. That day has proved that we should celebrate our bond with nothing less than the worth of Platinum love bands for each other.

We will always cherish this date night!

Style Your home for Diwali

I was making my checklist for Diwali this morning and I had put in almost everything from clothes shopping, sweets, gifts, to other household items that I will require. One product that has been added in today’s list was Godrej Aer after my husband’s persuasion.

We haven’t painted the house in a few years now and he didn't want it to look old so he introduced me to this new thing called Godrej Aer which is an air fresher; the same thing that he uses for his car. Eating to detox

We normally think of our daily routines and stick to them, we take 3 meals in a day and what we usually forget is exactly what we need to remember. We forget talking to our bodies and catering to its needs. For example you have been eating the same food for a while and you have stuck to this food routine for years but understand as we grow up our bodies requirements will change almost every 5 years, depending on our daily activities.

I have been staying our of my house for over 6 years now and I have been regularly eating out. I eat the same curries and maida rotis. But apart from a few stomach troubles I have never had any issue. Its only since 2 days that I am realizing that my digestive system needs a break too. Not only because I have been eating out but it is tired of all the amount of food I have had.

My food routine for today was -

11 am - soya milk
2 pm - Idli and fresh lime soda
9 pm - normal dinner (chapati and curry)

This is what I will follow for the nest 2-3 days.

Now you need not do this like me but understand we all need to detox so keep it easier on food and more on juices and milk. Try eating only one full meal, trust me your body feels awesome. It will feel totally fresh and clean. Again when you start eating at a normal pace it will be more ready to digest it.

Red undoubtedly stands out everywhere you endorse it, I think it indeed is a great idea to color your hair red. Recently I have seen many women wearing it and they look stunning. With whatever look you have you can just pair it up.

It was my date so I had to make it look very simple yet look chic, it was an evening event that's why you won't see a lot of make up on my face. I have only done a little to enhance my eyes and just a pressed powder.

In this outfit I have tried to play with the accessory, with a monochrome dress you see there is a silver bright clutch that just brightens my dress.

Wills Lifestyle Manish Malhotra

Manish Malhotra has been one of my favorites and today I have brought some collections from his kitty which are not very new but personally I have liked them all. This is from his collections in the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week.

I love this black and red sari the gold and red half border that makes it look so royal. At the same time it can be worn by a woman of any age.

Keeping festive weight at Bay

Ganapati festival is starting tomorrow and I am sure all of you have lots of invitations like me, you might have to visit relatives, friends, fiends of friends and what not. You can't stay off the sweets and increasing an extra kilo is a real no for all of us so here are a few simple tips to fight it out.

• Water

Drink as much warm water as you can, especially empty stomached in the morning and just before going to sleep. It will help you cut on the extra fat that your body might have started to store

• Sweetless

Go sweetless at home, since already sweet intake has gone up because of the festival, cut down on your chocolates and biscuits.

• Wheatgrass

Try drinking natural wheat grass juice it will remove all the toxins that you have assimilated either through overeating or even with a change in sleeping pattern. You could even take ready made wheat grass juice

• Fruits

Make fruits your company for these few days, so that the energy level in your body does not go down even if the sugar level does. It will give you ample sugar and help your skin to glow

• Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera needs to be consumed to keep any skin issues at bay that might lead to making your skin oily or any kind of pimples that might attack you, keep taking Aloe Vera juice in small portions or you can rub the gel on your body to get a natural glow

MISS DIVA 2013 looks

Miss Diva 2013 took place in Mumbai, Mansi Moghe from Nagpur was crowned the Miss Diva 2013 and somehow she has a glimpse of the newly crowned Sushmita Sen.

Looking at the styling at that event I see the color gold is being played with, all these three girls are wearing beautiful golden gowns very Indian yet modern and trendy. Gold has been used very subtly, it actually gets me to think that its like redefining the color gold in clothes and its fashion statement.

I totally loved Malaika's dress, she has brought golden so subtly on the red carpet like the other contestants. I love her complete look with silver sequinned pump

I like her clutch but not so much her look, in fact I would have wished either she had a brighter colored dress or a bright lip color it would have enhanced he look many times.

I wish Raveena would have wore a red lip color to support such a glittery outfit. The clutch does its wonders but a bigger bag would have created wonders for her.

DO THE NECK - NECK PIECES BY TRIBAL ZONE

I was randomly strolling at Pantaloons the other day and I went to jewellery section which apparently is my favorite. I love looking at the new collection and mostly end up buying something or the other. From the most common brands that they have Tribal Zone has been my favorite since quite some. I really liked some of their collections and I wanted to show them to you, unfortunately I could not take the pictures and i have not been able to get to all those I loved but I have found out a few of them.

This was my most favorite piece because it is trendy and ethnic at the same time

PCJ DELHI COUTURE WEEK 2013 - MASABA GUPTA

For somebody as new as her she has been able to carve a niche for herself and be as popular as can be, I personally love her style and the melange of her collections with equal ease. I am always in favor of designers who create clothes that are easier for people to wear, they don't have clothes only for the ramp and Masaba Gupta is surely one of them. The theme for this collection was Xray

I like the yellow with gold jewellery and the flowy gown makes it look way more girly.

 This again has the femininity and class in itself, but for me I would have liked a more traditional heavy jewellery with this look

Red and black seem to be an eternal combination and that too with flowers, this is a great design for people with petite bodies to make them look larger.

ANARKALI SUITS in BOLLYWOOD

Needless to say Anarkali suit trend is one thing that has stayed for long, longer than people expected to be. I think probably because of the royal look it gives to a woman. It has the ease of a suit and the delicacy of a saree and it is one of my favorite trends this year.

Black and gold seems to be my eternal favorite and also of a few designers because I always find this combination easily everywhere. I like the way she has used red to break the monotone of black
